What is your Age?
I am 53 years old.
What do you do for a living?
I have worked at Best Point Education & Behavioral Health, formally The Children’s Home of Cincinnati for 25 years.
What do you think is the district’s greatest strength?
Our dedicated teachers and staff. They do an amazing job at preparing the students for college or the work force.
How would you work to improve communication and culture throughout the district and with parents and families?
I would encourage open communication. I want parents and families to be informed and have a voice. I would work to find more ways to communicate and keep everyone in the loop.
What is your stance on social and emotional learning? Should it be taught in schools?
I feel it is up to the schools and that parents should have the option to opt out.
Do you think the expansion of school vouchers in Ohio will have a positive or negative impact on students? Why?
I think we will have to wait and see what kind of impact this has on our school and students. There are both advantages and disadvantages.
What is your educational background?
I attended St. Dominic in Delhi, then graduated from Elder High School and received my BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Cincinnati.
Do you have children? Do they attend public schools?
I have three children and they have attended Oakdale Elementary since kindergarten.
In what 2-3 areas would you like to see the district improve over the next 5 years?
I would like to see some facility/safety upgrades such as air conditioning in all schools and to constantly be improving school safety. I would like to find ways to keep class sizes as small as possible, and I would like to see the school district continue to raise their standards to give the highest level of education
What is your stance on critical race theory? Does it belong in schools?
My understanding is that CRT was designed for the college level and doesn’t belong in high schools.
What do you think is an appropriate way to approach sex education in schools?
Equipping staff with the knowledge and skills to deliver the information in a way that age appropriate students can understand the subject.
Would you be in favor of raising taxes to support the school district?
We should be as cost effective as we can be. I feel that Oak Hills does a great job controlling costs. If we need to raise taxes as a last resort, to support the district, then we will let the voters decide.
